Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and here is my first tutorial on cookie decorating. This shows you how to paint delicate little roses on iced cookies. If you haven’t read my previous post with tips on baking and icing cookies, please click here. This painting technique is wet-on-wet, so you’ll want to do this immediately after flooding your cookie with icing. Make sure your icing is still wet when you start to pipe on the roses, so that it sinks into the background icing, and does not sit on top.
Here is the YouTube video:
And here are the written instructions:
Painting Roses
First, I pipe on a small V or heart shape onto the cookies with a light pink color. Yes, I realized after that some of my “hearts” look like something else! Lol!
Next, I pipe a dot of a darker pink in the middle.
Then I take a toothpick or very fine brush and swirl the two colors together.
I then add one a few v-shapes for leaves and the flowers are complete! To pull this look together, I would recommend doing beadwork at the border of the cookie to make it even prettier! 🙂
I’ve also done this technique on a darker background and it looks fine as well.
